Portraits of Water at the Resonance Box, April 8, 1-4 PM
Hand Embroidery is a calming, relaxing, meditative process, a little like spending time on or near your favorite lake. Join us while we paint portraits in thread to the soundtrack of the sounds of water in nature in this special workshop with our friends at The Resonance Box in South Minneapolis.
No embroidery experience is required. We'll be there to help you learn the stitches, choose your colors and sew your a portrait of your favorite Minneapolis Lake ( Lake of the Isles, Bde Make Ska, Cedar, Harriet or Nokomis) or if you prefer, practice your stitches in concentric circles, like a ripple spreading on the surface. All materials are included.
The Resonance Box is a small initiative with the intention of bringing focus to the world of auditory experiences. Hearing has not only been a way for us to enjoy beautiful music, but it has also played a key role in our survival as a species. Sound continues to stay an important aspect of our research into the unknown territories of the cosmos. The artists at the Resonance Box hope to bring attention to this wonderous sensory process. When was the last time you paid close attention to how you were listening? The gallery is at 5525 Chicago Avenue, Minneapolis.
